World Food Day (WFD)[1] was observed around the globe on October 16 .This year’s theme is “Food prices — from crisis to stability.”This year WFD’S marked the fourth year in a row in which the observance was linked to a potential food crisis.
Three years ago rising grain prices and shrinking grain reserves triggered a global food crisis.This year, the FAO lowered the estimated number of hungry people in the world to 925 million.World Food Day 2011 was observed with an objective to look seriously at what causes swings in food prices, and do what needs to be done to reduce their impact on the weakest members of global society.
