Six Novels FIVE collertion of short stories, Seven books of poetry and one book of folk tales and plays in 24 Indian languages have been selected for the 2011 Kendra Sahitya Akademi awards for children’s Literature.
Akademi’s Bala Sahitya puraskar for life time contribution to children’s literature: Sailen Ghosh (Bengali), Shyam Dutt Parag (Dogri), Ramesh Parekh (Gujarati), Harikrishna Drvsare (Hindi) and Maheshwar Mohanty (Oriya).
Awards for poetry include: Gh. Nabi Aatas (Kashmiri), Snehalata Rai (Nepali), Darshan Singh Asht (Punjabi), Abhiraj Rajendra Mishra (Sanskrit), Nuhum Hembran (Santali), M.L. Thangappa (Tamil) and Aasil Aseer Dehlavi (Urdu).
Short –story writers selected are: Maheswar Narzary (Bodo), Mayanath Jha (Maithili), Dileep Prabhavalkar (Marathi), Harish B. Sharma (Rajasthani) and M.bhoopal Reddy (Telugu),
Novelists selected are: Bandita Phukan (Assamese), Siddhartha Sharma (English), Hundraj Balwani (Sindhi), N. D’souza (Kannada), Gajanan Jog (Konkani), and K. Pappootty (Malayalam).
Folk TALES AND PLAYS AWARD goes to: Shantibala Devi (Manipuri).
Each award comprises a prize of Rs. 50,000, copper plaque
